Caring for Cultural Memory in Global Dynamics
FKIP UNPRI Regularly Holds Cultural Wednesdays
Today, the great influence of globalization cannot be denied that it has influenced society both in terms of speech, social behavior and one of the most obvious changes is in terms of appearance or style of dress. Globalization is a special phenomenon in human civilization that continues to move in global society and is part of the changes experienced by global society. Clothing style is one of the things that greatly influences a person's image in the dynamics of globalization that crosses borders.
The pressure of globalization as previously explained in changes in the way of dressing has faded the communal memory of culture that traditional clothing is a key marker of traditional patterns that should be passed down from generation to generation. Cultural heritage is interpreted as a source of information that carries messages from the past and informs the forms of cultural heritage in the form of devices, symbols and emblems. A philosopher, Elie Wisel once said that without memory, there is no culture. Without memory, there would be no civilization, no society and no future.
In the midst of a mix of various global cultures, preserving local culture is one of many ways to prepare a generation that is militant and loves the identity of its nation. On that basis, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Prima Indonesia initiated *Cultural Wednesday* as one of the cultural activities to foster cultural awareness of all its academic communities.
Every Wednesday, the entire academic community of FKIP UNPRI is prioritized to wear clothing with a local cultural theme during activities on campus. This idea is fully supported by the leadership of Universitas Prima Indonesia and all students, lecturers, and education staff.
Unity in Diversity! Let's move together to preserve culture through traditional clothing!
